Season 3 Episode 4: In Conversation with Tasnim (Bookstagrammer)

My first chat with a book influencer - a.k.a. a bookstagrammer - for the podcast! I’ve been following Tasnim on Instagram for a year or so and absolutely loved sitting down to chat with her (over Skype) for The FBC Paris. It very much felt like talking to a friend I’d grown up with. Thank you Tasnim, for making me feel so at ease in your starry presence!

We had a great discussion about #ReadingBlackBritain2020: this hashtag initiative was started by Tasnim when she realised that she wanted to read more Black, British authors - so why not make it a community action? By consolidating everything under one hashtag, it makes a great resource for people looking for book recommendations.

Tasnim and I also spoke about some of our favourite indie publishing houses, such as Jacaranda and One World, and it was fascinating to hear some more about the Bookstagram community, working with publishers, and seeking out the books that don’t have huge marketing budgets behind them. And of course, Tasnim has reading recommendations for days!
